It’s finally happening! We’ve been dreaming of this for ages: “SPORTSMANS WEEKEND” is upon us.

This is what happens when you invite the World Champion Lumberjack, fishmonger, master sharpshooter, hatchet expert, renowned chef to camp.

Mix in LLBean, Basil Haydens, Defy Mfg Co, and the executive chef from KINMONT, and well, you’ve got one hell of a weekend in store. WELCOME TO THE FIRST ANNUAL SPORTSMANS WEEKEND. Here’s a small taste of what’s to come this weekend at camp. Stay tuned for the full weekend film, photo series.  Brought to you by the Element Collective Group & KINMONT Chicago, in collaboration with Camp Wandawega.

Workshops held by industry experts from across the land:

LUMBERJACK WORLD CHAMPION Carson Bosworth. As Member of the US National Axe Man’s Team, Carson has won 55 world titles, and over 100 all around titles. For a dozen years he has qualified for the ESPN Stihl Timbersports series as well as the ESPN Great Outdoor Games, allowing him to compete across the US & Australia, New Zealand, Den- mark, Canada & Singapore (including performances for two Prime Ministers). He’s been featured on ESPN and ESPN2, ABC Sports, the History Channel and more. He is currently a coach for the University of Idaho Woodsmen’s team as well as two club teams in Denmark, while supporting theTimberfest & Boundary County Loggers Events.  

Trout Expert Peter Fritsch (owner & FISH MONGER of the renowned Rushing Waters Fishery in Palmyra, Wisconsin) will coach the group on the right way to gut a bucket of trout. Be prepared to get your hands dirty- several filleting stations will be set up for you to try your hand at this necessary skill for any self-respecting sportsman.

LBL Competitive MASTER ARCHER Tony has been on bow hunting expeditions on all five continents. ASA certified Instructor, and Easton Archery school Graduate, Known for his African expeditions. Tony will demonstrate the art of the Crossbow, Recurve and Compound bow. Multiple targets on our Archery Range will be erected, so be ready to try your hand at archery like real men do it- with a hunting bow. (This isn’t your girlfriend’s pretty arrow set).

The  SKEET SHOOTING workshop will be conducted by Matt Weber, South Eastern Wisconsin a Law Enforcement Officer. He is the Firearms Instructor of his department and also SWAT team and Dive Team member. Matt has been shooting since the age of 7 and runs a small farm, processing all animals himself. He is skilled at clay targets in all disciplines including skeet, sporting clays and trap. An avid duck, goose, and upland bird hunter taking several trips a year all over the country to put food on the table for his family.

Local Sheriff & HATCHET THROWING EXPERT  John Czerwinskiwill teach you proper technique while hurling a tomahawk at a chunk of wood. John is ex military special forces, now sheriff for Walworth county, an expert hatchet thrower, and on law enforcement SWAT team.  

THE ULTIMATE NORTHWOODS SPORTSMAN: Bill Sargent: Camp Wandawega property manager and fishing guide. Avid hunter, member of Clark Lake Hunt Club. Shooting since the age 15, mastered the art of skeet, trap, archery & rifle. Your all round Wisconsin ‘ultimate sportsman’.

Erecting a 15 foot tipi tower of logs into a BONFIRE  is not for the meek. Bill Sargent will lead the group in building the stack that we’ll ignite with a flame-throwing blow torch and a 5 gallon bucket of diesel fuel. Cap off the day with a BOURBON toast by Max Wastler, Basil Hayden’s cultural bloodhound.

Breakfasts, Lunch and Dinner KINMONT EXECUTIVE CHEF  DUNCAN BIDDULPH Renowned chef & native Chicagoan, who studied at the Illinois institute of Art, and in Europe.
