FLEA MARKET CHIC

We love apartment therapy. and Apartment Therapy loves camp…

SEE THE WHOLE STORY HERE

When I was a girl, I’d spend a week or two every summer at a camp by the lake. It was nothing fancy — just barebones cabins and bunks — but what a blast it was. Crafting, archery and tree swings that let you launch yourself into a cool lake? I thought that was heaven. And then I saw Camp Wandawega and realized summer-camp heaven is actually in Wisconsin.
You might remember Camp Wandawega’s proprietors, Tereasa Surratt and David Hernandez, from our tour of their seriously amazing tree house at the resort. The rest of Camp Wandawega, which dates to the ’20s and now includes cabins, tents and teepees, is just as appealing. Tereasa decorated each unique guest cabin with mix-and-match flea market finds, from a wicker chair upholstered with an old Hudson Bay blanket to a vintage American flag hanging on the wall.

I love every bit of it, and you could easily find inspiration for your own home, even if you’ve never been to summer camp. As for me, every time I look at these photos I feel intense nostalgia for those long-ago days. Maybe I need to go to camp this summer!
