The Postcard project started nearly a decade ago.
Seeking out old postcards from Wandawega Lake Resort, dating from the early 20’s to the 60’s.
It became sort of an obsession. Friends would find them on ebay for us. Neighbors would donate to the ever-growing collection of cards featuring Wandawega & surrounding attractions, dating back to the teens.
It’s resulted in a great library of images.
so, what is the CAMP POSTAL CENTER?
Historically, you every hotel and motel lobby would have a postcard center offering up postcards of the local attractions. We imagine that Wandawega Lake Resort was no exception, and likely had a little center where guests could choose from an array of local sites to visit. You could buy a stamp, and mail it at the reception desk. This is what we wanted to recreate- detailed all the way down to the postcards that were available back then. Our curated set are sourced from our favorite local spots around camp. Our favorite restaurant that used to be a Cheese factory. Fun places that you would actually visit, like the local Fairgrounds. And then a few random local spots that are odd to have even had postcards…. like the local prison & insane asylum. Many are of Camp itself, and Lake Wandawega. The next time you pay us a visit, make a stop at our little postcard corner & write home!
Here are some of the vintage cards of local attractions that we had reprinted:
