The rich history of Camp Wandawega includes the “Vandavega” era, when it was owned by The Latvian Marian Fathers and served as a getaway for Latvian Catholic refugees who fled Latvia due to the tragedies of WWII. It was a place where they could gather around a bonfire and sing folk songs from their homeland. Pictured here is my grandma, my aunt Mary and my mom Anna, on a refugee ship that transported them from the camps in Germany to the warm embrace of America. #weareallrefugees #refugeeswelcome
