NEXT STOP: Tommy Guns A museum of epic proportions. My iphone pix will not do this place justice. (see their gallery shots at bottom). First off, the owner- Russell Manly (i mean, how could that name be any more perfect?) is a complete gentleman. We stumbling in, and found that we could not leave. He’s english, looks like a Harley Gang member, and is an insanely talented artist. the space is like walking back in time. a barbershop specifically- circa 1920. it’s outfitted with everything period. (down to the cash register) He sells new old stock toiletries that you cannot…
NEXT! The Brooklyn Art Library. This is the library that houses all of the amazing volumes of sketchbooks that have been created by the traveling art journals send round the world. the final resting place for amazing art in the form of collage, painting, sketching. We’ve had a couple of these journals make their way to our annual Art Camps, but I could never have been prepared for what we witnessed when we walked through these doors. Thousands of books to explore. we could have moved in. some snaps from our visit: some examples of some of the sketches within:…
NEXT! We popped into MAST BROS CHOCOLATE with my friend Angela on our little adventure tour day in Brooklyn. I’ve always been obsessed with their product & packaging, but now I’m really a fan. Some snaps from their space: and an incredible video shot by Scout on who they are
NEXT! We stopped into MOON RIVER CHATTEL, and (be still my heart). This is the shop I would have if I could move to Brooklyn and be 25 again. In love. Awe and lust with this space and everything in it. A little bit old school merchantile with a lot of amazing things that would not fit into my suitcase 🙁 We’ll be back soon.
I spent a day in Brooklyn with my friend Angela of POST27 store a couple of weeks ago and found so many lovely places that I had to share: First up: our friend Tara of SPROUT HOME. (Her shop in Chicago is just a few blocks away on Damen at Chicago Ave.) But this is the first time we’ve paid her Brooklyn store a visit. Swoon! She has a fresh cut shop, and a couple doors down her full boutique. Some snaps from her space(s). And for good measure, a few snaps I stole from her gallery: (LOVE)
