4 inspiring things i saw today in london…

This is sort of a mini travel journal. I’m here for work and gleaning as much inspiration as possible… ONE: a gorgeously illustrated book cover. TWO: a storefront collaged with antique photos. THREE: the sweetest, most english-looking houndstooth-clad boots. FOUR: a shirt with pheasants on it (be still my heart!).

for Charlie on her birthday…

(I realize that this is completely uncamp-related…but sometimes you just have to post gratuitous shots of your family) Moons ago, when Charlie was still a baby, we found an elderly lady who had saved all of her children’s clothes. In one visit, I bought Charlie 20 dresses (posted here). Now here we are, just over a year later, and she has outgrown many of them. And while we love to see the kid she’s becoming, we’re heartbroken to see her outgrow her baby seat, her dresses, and, inevitably, her mom’s & dad’s laps. So this post is dedicated to the most…

the Bird Apartment…

A project from Japanese design firm NENDO… “A treehouse designed for the Ando Momofuku Center, a facility devoted to promoting and increasing access to nature activities. The facility is located in a forest in Komoro City in Japan’s mountainous Nagano Prefecture. Our treehouse is collective housing for many birds and one person. The other side has an entrance for one person, who can look into the birds’ nests from inside the treehouse” My friend Shaun from stoneblitzer sent this to me…he was also the builder of our treehouse….

Dee Duncan: Camp Illustrator

Hipster meets vintage meets camp by Dee Duncan.  Raised in Kansas, based in Chicago, Dee rides a fixie, works on cars, runs marathons and creates some of the wittiest art ever!  I worked with Dee for a couple of years and he was always, ALWAYS coming up with another art project.  I’m also lucky enough to have been the recipient of a few pieces that live in my living room.  He doesn’t focus solely on camp, but when he does, it’s fab.  Thanks Dee for being a great inspiration and for always making things interesting. Dee created and this photo of himself and his…
