sandal witch

I am giving you a bit of fashion to end our week. Happy Friday! I found Rachel Corry, shoemaker through Refinery29 and fell in love with her space and her shoes. All of her shoes are hand made in her cabin in Bolina, Ca. Simple, clean and great for summertime fun. She found her space on craigslist and has created a beautiful and inspiring studio away from the busy city life of San Francisco. (photo by Michelle Drewes) (photo by Michelle Drewes)

P.A.R.

I am a sucker for great graphic design. The other day I came across a company called P.A.R. based out of Barcelona. Their graphics are modern and fresh with a vintage twist. I am particularly drawn to their Strata Bakery project and their Shooting with Garlic project. Clean lines with colors and type that make a nod towards the past. Great seal, too! Can’t wait to see what else they come up with!  Best of both worlds if you ask me. Plus, they are dolls! Check out more here.

Crain’s Chicago new Style Profile series

Crain’s Chicago business has a new feature series: Style Profiles of Chicago Business folks. It’s the brainchild of Jan Parr (former editor in chief of Chicago Home and Garden and current exec editor at Crains) When she asked me if I wanted to talk about my style, I thought she was kidding.I could have given her a dozen better more stylish options. STYLE SEEK RETREAT recap

from StyleSeek’s post on the retreat: “A few weekends ago our Creative Director Ryan Plett got a diverse group of photographers together and took them out into the woods of Wisconsin for the weekend with only their cameras, food/liquor, and the amazing resort. The goal was to highlight a single place, seeing how each person would experience the same location while creating truly unique content. Camp Wandawega in Elkhorn Wisconsin was the location for the #StyleSeekRetreat, a private camp that has been painstakingly curated with vintage and authentic items that truly take you back in time. The list of photographers that attended the Retreat include:…

PENFIELDS shoots @ Camp…

Introducing our Fall/Winter 2012 lookbook ‘Camp Wandawega’, shot on location at a unique resort tucked away by the shores of the idyllic Wandawega lake in Elkhorn, Wisconsin. The camp has a fascinating and colorful history and has been lovingly restored to its former glory by current owners David Hernandez and Teresea Suratt. Unique vintage pieces fill every nook and cranny, whilst the secret hideouts, cozy cabins and the evocative sense of nostalgia make Camp Wandawega an unspoiled holiday destination of yesteryear – the perfect place to shoot our Fall/Winter 2012 lookbook.  Inspired by America’s great outdoors, our Fall/Winter 2012 collection…

Tomboy Style

In the past few years, I’ve started dressing way more tomboyish. Skinny jeans and plaid button-downs with hunter boots or moccasins…I dress like a retired painter living in the woods of Michigan, at least that’s how I’d characterize it. In addition to my expensive love of J.Crew, my style is heavily influenced by blogs and bloggers. Tomboy Style is one of my favorites. A style blog written by Lizzie Garrett (who is on hiatus from her other great blog Design Watcher), it features interviews with current hip women and profiles of famous tomboys, along with media and gear for a rustic kind…
