Rushing Waters Fisheries

We are all about local. Local cheese. Local meats. Local produce. One of the places that we love is Rushing Waters Fisheries. A rainbow trout farm in nearby Palmyra, WI. This place is not only beautiful, but they produce some of the highest quality farm raised trout around. Best part, they are just a few minutes away from Camp Wandawega on an 80 acre farm. Their smoked trout is just too good for words! WISCONSIN DELLS. who knew?

I’ve been avoiding it for years. Tourist trap. Souvenir shop lined streets and overcrowded fast food joints. But when we had to take a trip there to pick up a vintage 50’s snow cone machine – I couldn’t believe that we didn’t visit earlier. The streets are lined with souvenir shops, yes. This 130 year old family company hand made this for us…

In the 1880s John Gallager was a shoemaker. When that industry became more automated, he couldn’t afford to upgrade to the new systems. and it put him out of business. But he knew how to sew canvas, so when a friend asked him if he could make him an awning, so began his new trade. Fast-forward 130 years. Gallagher Tent and Awning is still serving the midwest through their home base in  Madison, Wisconsin.
